Fougere
Fougere has a strong herbaceous and woody scent similar to ferns and is commonly found in men’s perfumes. Traditional Fougere notes are usually based on lavender, coumarin and oakmoss. Chypre and Fougere are similar in structure and smell, both containing oak moss. The two notes can be distinguished by the core flavor, if lavender dominates, it is a Fougere note; If patchouli is dominant, it’s a Chypre.
In the modern Fougere notes that has arisen in recent years, the traditional lavender will be replaced with other herbs, such as sage, mint, etc., such as Zumaron sage and sea salt, and Tiptik mint water is the Fougere notes of the new era. The Fougere has also been innovatively integrated with other flavors, such as gourmet Fougere and aquatic Fougere. Because Fougere will contain citrus, geranium, moss, wood, spices and so on a large variety of spices, so some people compare it to “all the flavors of the combination.”
