Juicy and Fruity

What to wear now: “Juicy fruit notes. Passionfruit, blackcurrant, and rhubarb. We’re drawn back to nature right now, and these ingredients allow us to escape back to an idyllic place. We’re also seeing alcohol-free fragrances, which is inspired by the clean beauty movement." -Nathalie Benareau, Symrise

Coffee Essence

What to wear now: "Ingredient trends tend to happen one of two ways. Sometimes consumers (and that includes perfumers like me) become increasingly interested in an aroma—sometimes coming from the food and beverage world, sometimes coming from health and wellness—so perfumers start using it more. A few years ago, we all did a lot of pomegranate; right now, everyone’s playing with marijuana scents. Personally, I’ve been playing with a Coffee Pure Jungle Essence, which is a 100% natural roasted ground coffee bean extraction. It has a vibrant woody, roasted note, somewhere between a gourmand and a smoky wood, and it’s genderless.” - Patricia Choux, MANE

Sustainable Scents

Sustainable Scents

What to wear now: “Fragrance transparency is growing, and consumers are eager to know the stories behind the materials that make their fragrances unique. With our society becoming eco-friendlier, it’s important to share these stories of sustainable ingredients that have impacts on local communities.” - Donna Ramanauskas, Robertet

Warm Skin Scents

Warm Skin Scents

What to wear now: Fluffy, airy musks and warm amber. “There’s a yearning to find comfort in what can sometimes be a cold, digital world, and ingredients that have a ‘skin touch’ [can help counteract that]. Earthy, amber notes also provide a warm sensuality that serve to ground us.” -Adriana Medina, Givaudan

Greenery

Greenery

What to wear now: “Green notes. There’s a greater awareness in nature, and the result is an unconscious desire for fragrances that reflect these qualities.” - Frank Voelkl, Firmenich

Raw Fragrance

Raw Fragrance

What to wear now: Raw fragrance. “We’re seeing more green, vegetal influences. Ingredients that ground us to the Earth like beetroot and carrot. This isn’t surprising, since so many of us are embracing healthy lifestyle, like juice, detox blends, and mushroom-infused drinks. We’re using a whole pantry full of ingredients!” -Sabine de Tscharner, Firmenich

Patchouli

Patchouli

What to wear now: “Patchouli. It’s one of the only notes I see as a defining driver.” -Jean-Marc Chaillan, IFF

Leather

Leather

What to wear now: Something masculine. “Woods, ouds, and leathers. Cult fragrances like Le Labo Santal 33, Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, and Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Oud have helped get the public familiar with scents that aren’t focus-grouped, [so they’re] not too fruity or sweet.” -Celine Barel, IFF
